Area Code
The area code for the entire island is 876. Regardless of Kingston, Ocho Rios, or Port Antonio, the area code is the same.
Currency Exchange
There is a currency exchange booth located in both international airports as well as at local banks. You may even find a currency exchange in your hotel or resort as well to help you. The currency in Jamaica is the Jamaican dollar or JMD.
Medical Assistance
Many hotels and resorts are equipped with a medical staff. You may need a letter from your doctor if you take a specific medication and need to refill.
Emergencies
The first number you should dial in case of emergency is 119. If there is a fire dial 110.
Taxes
Your room will be taxed at about 10% depending on your hotel. There is also a departure tax charged at the airport while at check-in.
Tipping
As advised with Jamaica villas, tipping about 10 to 15 percent is advised. This is expected in hotels, villas, and resorts. Tipping may not be allowed at all-inclusive resorts.
Climate
The average temperature ranges from about 70F degrees to 89F degrees.
